Google search yourself. What comes up? Is it good or is it bad?
Employers use social media to help review candidates prior to the interview stage so your social media presence is very important!
If your social media is public and full of drinking/clubbing photos, political views and inappropriate content does this give the right impression of you to your potential employer? Whether it's a recent post or something from years ago, they will still see it.
I would highly recommend cleaning up your social media presence before beginning your job search.
Here are my top tips for cleaning up your Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Youtube and LinkedIn:
- Check your personal information is correct and up to date
- Make sure your profile photo is appropriate
- Remove any tags from photos that are not appropriate
- Delete and statuses, comments on posts and check-ins that are not appropriate
- Check the groups/pages that you have liked
- Clean up your friends/followers/following list
All the best in your job search,
Chloe.
